ASCF is the Australian Delegate for
the UIAA
The Role of the CICE
Here are the primary responsibilities for the CICE representative in
Australia.
1) Prepare the applications for International Licenses, so that
Australian climbers can compete in World Cups, etc.
 |
| 1991 World Championships, Frankfurt. |
2) Prepare the paperwork for entry to these events at the correct time.
Applications normally are distributed six weeks before the events and close
a couple of weeks later. The CICE then distributes an information package to
the climbers concerned.
3) Arrange endorsements for climbers wanting to participate in
mountaineering expeditions. Some countries will not issue a visa without
such an endorsement. (Before the establishment of the ASCF Inc., Australians
had to join the foreign section of the New Zealand Alpine Club in order to
get the endorsement!)
4) Provide a conduit for Rules and information flow to the judges,
routesetters and other officials in the country. They have an obligation to
ensure that the rules of the UIAA are followed by any sanctioned event run
under the auspices of the ASCF Inc.
