Set in the desert above a dry riverbed, Ormiston is one of the NT's best climbing choices. 

LOCATION: 130km W of the Alice in the West MacDonnell National Park, follow the signs.

ROCK: Sandstone

CLIMBING: Mixed pro, about 30 moderate-grade routes

WHEN TO GO: Avoid mid-summer, when temperatures normally reach 45 degrees.
